Ode to Hailey

We put our longtime friend Hailey to sleep this weekend. She was 13 years old and having a lot of problems. It became almost unbearable to watch her try to walk around the house and have accidents on a daily basis. As Anna put it this weekend, "Hailey gone, Daddy sad". We love and miss you very much Hailey-girl - we hope you get lots of bacon in doggie heaven.

Anna and Charlie - one month old

I thought I would post pictures of Anna and Charlie each at their one month mark. This bear is going to get quite a lot of photo action through the years! I think they look very alike, although surprisingly, Charlie is bigger than Anna was at the same time. He was such a peanut at birth, but weighed in at a whopping 10 lbs today at his doctor appointment.

Big Sister

Anna has become such a little lady lately. I am sure it is because the other little person in our lives is so tiny but it is sad for me to think of her as a big girl. She's not even two years old yet! She is so good to little Charlie, she will bring him his paci and is very loving and patient with him. I don't even know where she has learned the patience, as I certainly haven't been exhibiting it with her lately. She still goes to school every morning and when I pick her up at noon, her first words are 'Hi Charlie'!! And she is so proud when she shows him off to her class mates, who are all very interested in the tiny squawker that I lug into her classroom every day. She shows him off every day - and this after almost a month - it makes me proud to see how loving she is with him.
