Snow Day

During my time on house arrest, we had a snow day. Anna couldn't go to daycare, so we got to spend the day together enjoying my house arrest. We made cookies, sang a bunch of songs, danced ourselves silly and got to play with Henry and Eleanor. It was quite tiring having an entire day of Anna time ( she doesn't ever really stop moving! ), but we had so much fun. Here are some pics of our day......

House Arrest

It's official, I had a doctor appointment for Baby 2 today and I am now on house arrest through February 15th. I am on terbutaline to stop contractions and February 15th marks week 37, or the week the doctor's will take me off of the meds to 'see what happens'. The last time they did that, three days later, we had our little Anna Banana. I am a bit relieved, actually. Working wears me out! Just thinking about work wears me out. I'd like to get the baby closer to March, even if just for the probability of warmer weather but mid-February is as good as any other time to have a baby! I will keep you posted......

Just a little shut eye, please?

I am convinced that sleep deprivation is one of the more cruel forms of torture that new parents go through. Because of Anna's utter lack of good sleeping skills, I was pretty resigned to not getting much sleep for the next few years. Now, though, because my pregnancy is getting further along ( 33 weeks ), I find that I cannot sleep for more than an hour at a time, then it's my bladder waking me up. Anna has also backslid into waking up a few times a night - she was doing pretty good - and sleeping until 5 or 6am without any assistance from anyone. Now, though, she wakes up at 11pm and again at 3 or 4, each time insisting ( loudly ) that I join her in bed. Her daddy simply won't do, which is a terrible pain in the arse. We also have an aging dog that makes horrific whining noises at all times of the night due to her aching bones. It is probably comical to the outsider but to me, it's been torturous. I'm not sure what I'll do when I have a nursing infant, an insistant toddler and the dog to deal with all at once. At least Karl will be well-rested! I guess I'll just have to start taking naps at my desk.

Steeler Mania

Many of you know Karl well enough to know he is a complete Steeler fan. When there is a game on, we can find him on the couch alternately joyous or cussing, depending on how the team is doing that given Sunday. Well, this past Sunday, his little partner in crime, Anna Banana got in the spirit too. Here are some pics of the action. It's amazing how much football Anna can tolerate, I guess just another example of how she's following in her daddy's footsteps!

I want, I want, I want, I want

Anna started speaking in sentences recently. It's been very cute, until I realized that all of her sentences start with the words 'I want'. Is this some scary way of showing me what her teenage years are going to be like? Daddy, I want a bmw, Mommy, I want that dress... YIKES! So, far, though it hasn't been so bad. More like, I want food, I want cookie, I want up, I want down, I want Hailey ( although Hailey doesn't want her! ). It's so exciting seeing how Anna is learning!

Happy New Year!

Wow, does time fly. We want to wish all of our friends and family a very happy New Year! We spent it in a low key way with Molly, Vince, Eleanor and Henry. We toasted the New Year with champagne and chocolate milk at 7pm and I think I was asleep at 10:20! Hey - at least I have an excuse. Next year, I promise to make it to midnight.
